What is EHCCO?“Communities of practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and they learn how to do it better as they interact regularly. “ – Etienne Wenger A Community of Practice As a learning community dedicated to the transformation of healthcare organizations, we explore emerging approaches for addressing conflict and complex issues as a means of building capacity for effective interprofessional engagement. Our programs and services are designed to nurture individual and organizational resilience by emphasizing the integration of intellectual challenge, personal well-being and spiritual growth- the key elements of healing. Central to EHCCO’s approach is the formation and support of a diverse and emergent community with members representing clinical and non-clinical health professionals, conflict engagement specialists, dispute resolution and organization development professionals, patients and patient advocates, academics and researchers, policy-makers, regulators, lawyers, and artists. As a community, we emphasize a sense of belonging combined with open inquiry to support growth and learning among individuals and groups. As a community of practice, we engage in joint activities and discussions, support each other’s efforts, share information, convene dialogues, create training programs, and link experts with those who are seeking consultation from experienced practitioners. EHCCO members share a repertoire of resources, experiences, stories, tools, and approaches for addressing chronic problems and complex challenges through online and face-2-face forums. Community members range from novice to expert and through ongoing interactions we learn from each other and about ourselves. |
